Eid al-Adha is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son. Muslims around the world observe this event. In Bangladesh, all the Muslims also follow this event from heart. Qurbani is one of the major part of this festival. Thousands of people buy cow or goat for Qurbani from the cattle market name “Qurbani Cow Haat or Qurbani Gorur Haat”. Eid-ul-Azah is the festival of sacrifice.

Date of Qurbani: in Bangladesh Qurbani will be held on Monday 12^th August, 2019.

This year the two Dhaka city corporations are going to set up 21 temporary cattle markets in the capital for upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

Of those, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will set up 12 cattle markets, while Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will set up the remaining 9. Apart from these, there is a permanent cattle market in Gabtoli. the permanent cattle market in Gabtoli will remain open.

cattle traders in “Qurbani Cow Haat or Qurbani Gorur Haat” to start selling animals from three days before the Eid festival and continue till the Eid day.

The cattle markets under the DSCC are:  

Meradia Bazar Playground,

open spaces of Dhupkhola playground,

41 no. Kawarteck playground,

open spaces of Amulia Model Town,

Maitree Shangho playground,

Shyampur Balur Math,

32 no. Shamsabad playground,

Hazaribagh field at Zigatola,

Lalbagh Rahmatganj playground,

Chairman’s house intersection in Kamrangirchar,

Gopibagh Balur Math open spaces adjacent to Kamalapur stadium and

open space of Shanir Akhra-Daniya playground.

The cattle markets under the DNCC are:

open spaces at Kawla-Shialdanga,

open spaces at north side of Mirpur DOHS,

Open spaces of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute,

open space near the bridge no 1 & 2 at Uttara Sector 15,

Vatara (Sayed Nagar),

open space of Eastern Housing at Mirpur- 6,

Badda Eastern Housing (Aftabnagar)

Open space of Bosila police line.

Open space of Vashan take unused road under construction.

The amount of Hasil (charge that buyers pay on the purchasing price) is Tk 50 against every Tk 1,000 against every purchase of cattle from the “Qurbani Cow Haat or Qurbani Gorur Haat”.
